About the course
In today’s diverse and evolving workforce, fostering an inclusive and equitable workplace is essential, particularly in the skilled trades industry. This course is designed to equip employers with the knowledge and tools needed to create a supportive environment where all employees feel valued and empowered. Through three comprehensive modules—distal, intermediate, and proximal determinants of health—participants will explore the systemic factors that influence workplace dynamics, including the impact of racism, oppression, and social inequities. Real-world examples will illustrate how diversity and inclusion enhance productivity, innovation, and problem-solving within the skilled trades. By the end of this training, employers will gain a deeper understanding of the cultural landscape new apprentices enter, as well as actionable strategies to address inequities and promote fairness. Together, we can build a stronger, more inclusive workplace that harnesses the full potential of every team member.
